Judas Did Not Anticipate the Death of Jesus

Judas wanted to hand Jesus over to the chief priests and elders for money, but I do not believe that Judas realized that would lead to the death of Jesus. Perhaps Judas thought they would incarcerate Jesus or punish Him in some other way, but when Judas saw how far things went, it hit him hard, “Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders” (Matthew 27:3).
Sin does that. We think we can dabble in it a little, and control what happens. Remember God told Cain, “If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it” (Genesis 4:7). What God told Cain is especially true when we involve others as Judas did.
Just stay away from sin. When you get into it, seek to get out immediately before it goes further than you anticipated.
