Prove Yourself Before God's Enemies

Moses anticipated Israel wanting a sign from him that the Lord had appeared to him, but he had not anticipated Pharaoh demanding a sign. However, the very thing that he would show the Israelites, he would also show Pharaoh.
Sure enough, when Moses approached Pharaoh, he demanded a miracle. “Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, ‘When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, “Show a miracle for yourselves,” then you shall say to Aaron, “Take your rod and cast it before Pharaoh, and let it become a serpent.”‘ So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, just as the LORD commanded. And Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent” (Exodus 7:8-10).
Why would Pharaoh even think to ask for a miracle? The verses that follow show him calling for his wise men and sorcerers and they did the same thing as Moses, throwing down their rods, which became serpents. Then Aaron put his rod down and it swallowed up those serpents.
Here’s the thing. Why should the world listen to you and me? They have impressive things. What do we have to offer them that is better? Be prepared to show them those things. Some will end up believing you, but some will only harden their hearts more as Pharaoh did.
