The Land Was Filled With Them

Moses wrote that seventy descendants of Jacob went down into Egypt and all those people eventually died (Exodus 1:1-6). Nevertheless, Moses wrote, “But the children of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly, multiplied and grew exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them” (v. 7). The Egyptians had been good hosts, which helped the family of Jacob to grow.
God’s people always do well when the local government treats them well, but they can still do well when the government oppresses them. God then deals with the government according to His righteousness, either blessing it for its fair treatment of His people or cursing it for its poor treatment of His people. At the same time, He wants His people to pray for the government, which then helps them to grow in numbers.
Do you pray for your government?
