Boldness Brings Boldness

Herod ordered the death of John the Baptizer. Yet, when Herod heard of the miracles of Jesus, Herod concluded that John had risen from the dead and then had miraculous powers. Why did Herod order the death of John?
Initially, Herod did not kill John, but only imprisoned him. Why did Herod put John in prison? Matthew explains for us, “For Herod had laid hold of John and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife. Because John had said to him, ‘It is not lawful for you to have her'” (Matthew 14:3, 4).
Herod did something bold against John, but John had done something bold against Herod. That does not mean John was wrong. Herod committed the errors through this whole ordeal.
However, even if your good is bold, be prepared for someone to oppose you boldly. It happened to John, it will happen to you.
