The Need for Mercy

Grace is giving what we do not deserve, and mercy is withholding what we deserve. Yet, there is more to mercy and two blind men knew it, “When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, ‘Son of David, have mercy on us!'” (Matthew 9:27).
They did not need something withheld from them, but they needed something that they lacked. They lacked sight. They wanted Jesus to give them sight. Mercy is also kindness. Therefore, it withholds what is deserved (punishment), but it also gives what a person needs, and that latter is what they wanted from the Creator of eyesight.
What do you need from the Lord? Have you asked Him to have mercy on you?
