You Never Know Who Is Listening

As Isaac summoned his son Esau and told him to hunt wild game and prepare a meal for his father that he might bless Esau, but someone listened in, “Now Rebekah was listening when Isaac spoke to Esau his son. And Esau went to the field to hunt game and to bring it” (Genesis 27:5).
Isaac probably thought that it was just him and his son, but then again, he would think nothing of his wife listening to him speak to their son about hunting and cooking and eating. Yet, Isaac added another element. He would bless Esau.
That part caught Rebekah’s attention. Isaac favored Esau, but Rebekah favored Jacob and she would not let Jacob be left out of a heavenly blessing from her husband.
Therefore, she devised a plan for Jacob to get the blessing. The rest is history.
