How Will God Fulfill His Promises

The Lord promised Abram that he would become a nation. Yet, as he slowly approached the age of 100, he still had no children, no son in particular. After the Lord said that He was Abram’s shield and exceedingly great reward, Moses wrote, “But Abram said, ‘Lord GOD, what will You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?’ Then Abram said, ‘Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed one born in my house is my heir!'” (Genesis 15:2, 3).
Abram believed the Lord’s promises, but Abram could not see how the Lord would keep His promises. So, the patriarch started to wonder what the Lord would do. Abram eventually saw the Lord work.
We know that the Lord has promised us things, but we get like Abram. Let us be patient and not try to fulfill the Lord’s promises on our own, for when Abram and his wife Sarai tried that, it did not go well, as you will discover.
