Honoring and Reverencing God

God asked a couple of questions of the Jewish priests and it seems that it would be good to ask the same questions of ourselves,
“A son honors his father,
And a servant his master.
If then I am the Father,
Where is My honor?
And if I am a Master,
Where is My reverence?
Says the LORD of hosts
To you priests who despise My name.
Yet you say, ‘In what way have we despised Your name?'”
(Malachi 1:6)
Should a son honor his father? Yes, a son should honor his father. Should a servant honor his master? Again, yes, a servant should honor his master. Is God our Father? Yes, He is, but do we honor Him as a son honors his father? Is God our Master? Yes, He is, but do we reverence Him as a servant reverences his master?
Each of us can only answer that for ourselves. However, let us not deceive ourselves, for you will notice that the priests, whom God had charged with a failure to honor Him, did not believe that they had despised His name. Could you and I also despise Him without realizing it? Read the rest of Malachi and find out how the priests had despised the name of God.
