Quietness Versus Strife

To read the Bible in a year, read Proverbs 17 and 18.
If you think about it, I am sure you will agree that,
Better is a dry morsel with quietness,
Than a house full of feasting with strife.
(Proverbs 17:1)
We all want plenty of food, including many choices, but if there is strife among the people eating, the food does not taste so good. How much more delightful it is to have only one piece of dry food when there is peace among those eating.
Why did Solomon tell the words of Proverbs 17:1? I believe he sought to convince us of what is valuable in life, and it is not food for the body, but food for the spirit.
