It Was Worth It!

truelove4.jpg“What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish that I may gain Christ” (Philippians 3:8).
Mike’s mom stood, a formidable figure in her Gucci gown, hands on hips, as flexible as a brick wall. “Son,” she said with that air of finality he knew so well, “if you marry that peroxide headed pauper, you can say goodbye to the Springer family fortune.”
His dad stood to one side, silent and unmoved.
Gone would be the fortune, worth millions. Gone would be the estates with some of the richest farmlands in the state. Gone would be the real estate investments in the city. Gone the moment he married his beloved Beverly. Millions of dollars, a life of power and prestige, or the hand of the girl he loved.
It was a “no brainer”.
True love, you see, is worth whatever it costs; it will last forever, if it is put first. Paul had put his love – for his Master – before all else. Knowing Jesus “surpassed” all else, and the rest was “rubbish.”
In a day when so many would surrender conviction for cash, love for loot, it’s something to remember. There are some things that are not for sale at any price!

  1. I loved the articles. We all must remember that in this life, its not worth somethings to be brought, traded, bargained, sold, or purchased for any amount of houses, land, position or money. Thanks!
