You Cannot See Your Strength

To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 44–46.

Are you a child of God? If so, listen to a contemplation of the sons of Korah, which they gave to the chief musician that he might make it into a song (Psalm 44:0). They began by addressing God and how they had heard that He worked in the days of their fathers (Psalm 44:1). They specified the time when He drove out the Canaanites and established Israel in the Land of Canaan (Psalm 44:2). Israel could not do such a huge job alone, but they needed help, as the sons of Korah explained,

For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword,
Nor did their own arm save them;
But it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance,
Because You favored them.
(Psalm 44:3)

The strength of Israel was hidden. They could have looked at their numbers, their weapons, their experience as warriors, their resources as a wandering people, and concluded that they could not have conquered the Land of Canaan, but they knew it was God’s right hand, God’s arm, the light of God’s face that went with them, and so they did what needed to be done.

If you follow Jesus Christ wherever He leads you, you have the same thing on your side. Therefore, do not fear and do not worry!
