When Did the Preacher Leave?

To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 20:1-16.
Some preachers leave a congregation right in the middle of controversy, because they do not like to deal with such things. They might have to pick sides and lose friends in the process. So, they may throw out some words that they think should solve the problem, and then quickly leave. Contrast that with Paul and the riotous situation at Ephesus. Luke said of the preacher, “After the uproar had ceased, Paul called the disciples to himself, embraced them, and departed to go to Macedonia” (Acts 20:1). Paul had to go to preach in other places, but he did not high tail it out of town when trouble appeared. He tried to get in the middle of it and when the uproar was over, then he left.
