What Is Your Job? Stick to It!

To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 6.
Have you agreed to do something in the church? Keep your commitment and do not let things distract you from it. The early preachers had to deal with that problem. A problem arose, threatening the unity of the church (Acts 6:1). The preachers found a way to solve the problem and asked for the congregation’s help, “Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, ‘It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables. Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business; but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word’” (Acts 6:2–4). Serving tables was honorable, but it was not the work the Lord had appointed the preachers to do. Everyone has his or her part to fill in the church, but the devil tries hard to distract us that we might do his desires and not the Lord’s.
Did you volunteer to do something, but have let something or someone keep you from fulfilling your commitment?
