Rich in the World, Richer in the Spirit

To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 7:20-43.
Moses was born an Israelite, but Stephen showed that Moses lived as an Egyptian, “At this time Moses was born, and was well pleasing to God; and he was brought up in his father’s house for three months. But when he was set out, Pharaoh’s daughter took him away and brought him up as her own son. And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and deeds” (Acts 7:20-22). He lived as the grandson of the Pharaoh until the age of 40, making Moses rich in this world, but we do not know him as an Egyptian, rather as an Israelite we know him. Why? Because Moses was even richer in spirit and he left the life of a privileged Egyptian and lived as a despised Israelite, because Egypt was the oppressor and an idolatrous nation, whereas Israel worshiped the one true God.
Moses turned his back on much, but gained much more when he did so. Do you know what you have gained in both this world and in that which is to come by joining yourself to Christ?
