Purifying Yourself

To read the Bible in a year, read Nehemiah 9–11.
The children of Israel had defiled themselves relentlessly, even after returning from Babylonian captivity. After reading the word of God, they could see that for themselves. Therefore, they assembled with fasting, in sackcloth, and with dust on their heads. However, that was not enough. They did more, “Then those of Israelite lineage separated themselves from all foreigners; and they stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers. And they stood up in their place and read from the Book of the Law of the LORD their God for one-fourth of the day; and for another fourth they confessed and worshiped the LORD their God” (Nehemiah 9:2, 3). They had to separate from the people who had influenced them to do evil, and God wanted to hear their acknowledgement of their evil, and they needed to continue to read and to meditate in the word of God . When they did those things they were moved to utter a beautiful prayer.
How do you view your life? Is it acceptable to God?
