Not Ashamed of Persecution

To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 4:23–37.
The Jews arrested Peter and John, threatened them that they might stop preaching Jesus, and after letting them go, the apostles went back to the church. Luke wrote, “And being let go, they went to their own companions and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them” (Acts 4:23). Peter and John did not complain, but reported what happened. They did not seek a law suit. They did not report the evil actions of the Jews to the Romans. The apostles did not ask what they themselves did wrong, nor did the church charge them with wrong. Rather they were all glad to have suffered for the name of Jesus Christ and prayed for more boldness to continue to speak.
