Be Ready to Give What You Offer

To read the Bible in a year, read Esther 7–10.
King Ahasuerus liked Esther his queen very much, so much so that he offered to give her anything she wanted, up to half the kingdom! She said that she just wanted her life and the lives of her people spared (Esther 7:1–4). He was not prepared to hear who had threatened her and her people, “So King Ahasuerus answered and said to Queen Esther, ‘Who is he, and where is he, who would dare presume in his heart to do such a thing?’ And Esther said, ‘The adversary and enemy is this wicked Haman!’ So Haman was terrified before the king and queen” (Esther 7:5, 6). Ahasuerus liked Haman also, but now the king had to make a choice. The choice was easy because he made a promise to Esther and intended to keep it. He could also see that Haman had tricked him and the king had not fully investigated the decree that Haman made to have the Jews exterminated.
If you make an offer to someone, be ready to give what you offered.
