Examine the Fruit to Know the Tree

To read the Bible in a year, read John 9.24-41.
Some fruit trees have bark and leaves similar enough, that to the untrained eye, one cannot tell what kind of fruit tree it is. However, once the tree starts to bear fruit, then you can know what kind of fruit tree it is, although you may not know the variety until later. Still, by inspecting the fruit, you can eventually know the variety of fruit tree it is.
Our Lord taught that such is true when knowing people, especially prophets, preachers, and teachers (Matt 7:15-20). A man whom Jesus healed used this very test on Jesus. The Pharisees questioned the man as to who healed him. Let’s listen in on part of the conversation, “So they again called the man who was blind, and said to him, ‘Give God the glory! We know that this Man is a sinner.’ He answered and said, ‘Whether He is a sinner or not I do not know. One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see'” (John 9:24, 25). The Pharisees refused to inspect the fruit of Jesus, but the blind man did and you can see in what direction he was headed as to whether Jesus was a sinner.
Compare yourself and compare others to the Scriptures, then you shall know who is of God and who is not of God. Look at what you produce and at what others produce, then you shall know whether a person is good or evil.
