Answering Atheists

To read the Bible in a year, read John 10:22-42.
Atheists demand to see God or incontrovertible evidence that He exists. That evidence surrounds them. Also, God showed Himself in the person of Jesus Christ. Yet, atheists remain unbelievers, because they do not want to believe.
Jesus had a confrontation with some of the Jews that illustrates this point. John wrote, “Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter. And Jesus walked in the temple, in Solomon’s porch. Then the Jews surrounded Him and said to Him, ‘How long do You keep us in doubt? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly’” (John 10:22–24). Study the answer Jesus gave in verses 25–30. Then think on how to adapt it for answering atheists. Jesus told them that they did not want to believe, which was why they did not accept the evidence He had already presented. He explained further that His sheep hear His voice and they follow Him. Likewise, atheists do not want to believe and they are not of God, so they do not follow Him. Explain that to them with compassion and perhaps they will think on what you have said and reconsider their position.
