The House of Saul

To read the Bible in a year, read First Chronicles 8-10.
First Chronicles 8 shows the house of Benjamin and King Saul’s part in it. How significant that God took from the tribe of Benjamin, the youngest son of Jacob, a king. We would have figured that the first king of Israel would come from the tribe of Reuben, Jacob’s oldest son, but since that son sinned, his tribe did not become the kingly tribe. Interestingly, the Lord skipped all the other sons, taking a king from the twelfth son. Sadly, Saul sinned greatly, and the next king of Israel came from the fourth son of Jacob. Do you know the name of that fourth son?
Know these things, because it shows that God does not work according to the ways of man. God does not do things as we dictate that they should be done. This is why we must trust Him and not ourselves, for He knows what He is doing.
