It's Just a Bronze Thing

To read the Bible in a year, read Second Kings 18 and 19.
When Hezekiah became king of Judah, he removed idolatry from the land and notice one form that he removed, “He removed the high places and broke the sacred pillars, cut down the wooden image and broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made; for until those days the children of Israel burned incense to it, and called it Nehushtan” (2Kings 18:4). Hezekiah called the bronze serpent Nehushtan. Nehushtan means “Bronze Thing,” because it was nothing more than a bronze thing, but Israel worshiped it! What Moses made at the direction of God for something good, Israel turned into a sinful thing. Therefore, Hezekiah broke it and called it Nehushtan. He wanted Israel to know that it was nothing more than a bronze thing.
Think about all the things that we make important in life. Do you realize that those things are just a “bronze things”?
On the other hand, what is God or what is Jesus? What is your family? What are your friends? What are the people all around you? Do you see what is important now?
