Jesus Greater Than John

To read the Bible in a year, read John 1:29-51.
People wondered if John the Baptizer was the Christ, but John denied it. After pointing out Jesus one day, John declared, “This is He of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who is preferred before me, for He was before me.’ I did not know Him; but that He should be revealed to Israel, therefore I came baptizing with water'” (John 1:30, 31). It would not have taken too much investigation to find out that John was about six months older than Jesus, yet, John said Jesus was before, because the life of Jesus did not begin with conception in His mother’s womb, but Jesus has always existed. He left the comforts of heaven to reside in the womb of a woman for nine months and then come into the world. He appeared as a man. Yes, He was a man, but He was also deity in the flesh. That was not obvious by looking at Him. Therefore, God sent John baptizing, so that when God’s Son approached John for baptism something spectacular would happen, showing John the true identity of Jesus.
Do you know who He is? He was baptized and something wonderful happened. Have you been baptized? When you are, something wonderful will happen.
