From the Dust to the Throne to the Dogs

To read the Bible in a year, read First Kings 16-18.
God can reverse our life situation in ways that we cannot imagine, taking us from bad to good to bad or from good to bad to good. The former happened to King Baasha of Israel. God sent a prophet to him, who said, “Inasmuch as I lifted you out of the dust and made you ruler over My people Israel, and you have walked in the way of Jeroboam…surely I will take away the posterity of Baasha and the posterity of his house…The dogs shall eat whoever belongs to Baasha and dies in the city…” (1Kings 16:2-4). Baasha was as the dust, but the God who made man from dust, took Baasha, exalted him, and placed him on a throne. Yet, that did not create loyalty to God in the heart of Baasha, because his heart was still in the dust. Thus, God ended the king’s life with the dogs.
Has God changed your life situation? Which ever direction He has taken it, let it be a reason to continue to cling to Him or to run back to Him.
