A Mile In Our Shoes

We humans often find that after we have traversed the same type of troubling terrain another is experiencing, we discover within ourselves an even greater sympathy welling up for them. When we really know what it is like, our heart yearns to help.
Jesus has walked many miles in our shoes. He knows what it is to face strong temptations, disappointment and trials. He was human. And it is precisely because our risen Lord is able “to sympathize with our weaknesses” (Hebrews 4:15) that he can be gentle and compassionate with us, as well as serve on our behalf before God that we might receive mercy and grace when times are rough.
Understanding that Jesus really does know what we are going through, encourages us to continue on our journey and seek his help in times of need. When was the last time you approached the throne of grace?
