The Beginning of Solomon's Way

To read the Bible in a year, read First Kings 3-5.
Solomon did many good things when he started his reign as king. First Kings 3:1 notes that he made peace, “Now Solomon made a treaty with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and married Pharaoh’s daughter; then he brought her to the City of David until he had finished building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall all around Jerusalem” (1Kings 3:1). Can you imagine that? He made peace with Israel’s former captor and married one of their women! Also, verse 2 states that the people sacrificed in the high places until the temple was built, but the writer also said, “And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of his father David, except that he sacrificed and burned incense at the high places” (1Kings 3:3). Don’t you enjoy reading that a king loved God and obeyed Him just as David did?
Pray to God that He give us rulers of each of our nations who love God and obey Him.
