A Glorious Moment For Israel

To read the Bible in a year, read First Kings 8 and 9.
Israel had gone from a mere family that had to move to Egypt, because of a famine in the place where they had been living, to slaves in Egypt to having their own land. A crowning moment came when King Solomon built their own temple, a permanent structure in which to house the Ark of the Covenant. The Bible says when it was time to bring the Ark to the temple, which meant that the whole thing was ready for service, that King Solomon gathered all the leaders of the people and all the men of Israel (1Kings 8:1-4). They put the Ark and other items in their proper places (vv. 6-9), and this happened, “And it came to pass, when the priests came out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the LORD, so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of the LORD” (vv. 10, 11). That shows how God rea cted to this wonderful event in Israel’s history. Look at Solomon’s reaction, “Also King Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel who were assembled with him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen that could not be counted or numbered for multitude” (v. 5). Wow! Can you picture such a thing happening?
Yet, when God dedicated the entrance into the true temple, of which the one Solomon made was only a copy, He did not offer sacrifices without number, but He only offered one, because that one was far greater than all animal sacrifices combined. When God offered that only sacrifice, He showed just how much greater was the true temple found in heaven.
Do you know of the one sacrifice God offered?
