If You Want It, Keep Praying For It

To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 18:1-17.
Luke wrote, “Then [Jesus] spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart” (Luke 18:1). For years I had prayed that I could do some work, research, or something to show that man and dinosaurs lived as contemporaries in the past. My understanding in the Scriptures is that man and dinosaurs were created on the same day and I believe there is biblical, as well as extra-biblical evidence, to support this belief. However, after years of praying that I could be involved in work to show this truth, I finally concluded that it was not going to happen. Therefore, at the end of 2007, I took it off my prayer list. During that time, my oldest daughter was pregnant with our first granddaughter. She is due to arrive on May 19th. Then late this winter of 2008, I received a phone call, inviting me to go to Peru where some of the strongest extra-biblical evidence exists for the dinosaur/man connection. When were they leaving? May 19th. I could not believe it. I want to be present for the birth of my first grandchild, but I also want to go on this trip. Did the Lord teach me that I always ought to pray and not lose heart? I have learned my lesson. I have decided to go on the trip and hope she is born before I leave, but if not, I know that, Lord willing, I will have many years with her.
Let my mistake be a lesson to you that you always ought to pray and not lose heart, provided that what you ask for is biblical and within the Lord’s will.
