Who Was Tola?

To read the Bible in a year, read Judges 10 and 11.
Who was Tola? Have you heard any sermons about him? All that we know about him is this, “After Abimelech there arose to save Israel Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir in the mountains of Ephraim. He judged Israel twenty-three years; and he died and was buried in Shamir” (Judges 10:1, 2). He judged Israel, but for some reason the Holy Spirit did not include any stories of what he did for Israel. Has he been forgotten? No, the Lord knows everything about that man, even as the Lord knows everything about you. Tola did good things for Israel and you have done good things for the church. No one else may know what you and Tola did. No one shall write a history book about either one of you. However, both of you have your name written in the Lamb’s Book of Life!
