With Whom Was the Covenant Made?

To read the Bible in a year, read Deuteronomy 29 and 30.
It is unfortunate that many people cannot see that the covenant God revealed at Sinai (also known as Horeb), which was also repeated in the land of Moab, was not made with the church or the world, but with Israel only. Listen to Moses specify with whom God made the covenant, “These are the words of the covenant which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which He made with them in Horeb” (Deuteronomy 29:1). Moses plainly said the Lord commanded Moses to make the covenant with the children of Israel.
Therefore, the specific commands of the covenant found in the first five books of the Bible, such as Sabbath-keeping, do not apply to the church or to the world. Yes, there are things we learn from the covenant and principles that are eternal, such as loving God, but He has made a covenant with us through Jesus Christ, found in the New Testament (the New Covenant).
