He Hungered

To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 4:1-32.
This passage fascinates me every time I read it, “Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry” (Luke 4:1, 2). Jesus ate nothing for forty days (ten days over a month; if you started fasting tomorrow, imagine not eating until May 5!), and when that time ended, then He was hungry! Missing a meal or even several meals is not that hard, if you focus on something. However, try to keep that focus for forty days with an intensity that you do not even notice the hunger of your body, begging for food.
Try this. Focus on looking at everyone you see and meet for the next forty days with the eyes of Jesus, looking at people the way Jesus did. See how long you can do it, before you have forgotten about it or get distracted with some other item that begs for your attention.
