Tricking the Son of God!

To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 14:1-25.
You know who Jesus is. Today look at everything around you, including both the natural creation and the things man has made (for man has done it through the power the Lord has given to man), and consider that all you see, Jesus made with the simple power of His spoken word. His intelligence to know how to make all these things we cannot even begin to understand. Having taken in that awesome truth, then consider what His enemies wanted to do, “After two days it was the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take Him by trickery and put Him to death” (Mark 14:1). I laugh when I think of puny men, who could not create one thing with their words, trying to trick the Creator and put Him to death. Can a worm trick you? Can a leaf put you to death? How then can men, whose insignificance before God is even smaller than a worm or leaf before us, ever hope to trick and kill God?
Verse 2 also makes me laugh, “But they said, ‘Not during the feast, lest there be an uproar of the people'” (v. 2). See how they reasoned? Oh, let’s worry about the reaction of the people, but the reaction of the God of heaven is nothing to worry about! They had no idea who walked among them.
We know Him, but are we any better off if we do not obey Him? No, since we know who He is and then if we disobey Him, we are worse off than the chief priests and the scribes.
