God Blesses Vows

To read the Bible in a year, read Numbers 21 and 22.
While we have to be careful not to make vows that we break, we can make vows and if we keep them, God shall bless us for it. For example, King Arad, a Canaanite, attacked Israel and took some of them prisoner (Numbers 21:1). Israel responded this way, “So Israel made a vow to the LORD, and said, ‘If You will indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities'” (v. 2). If Israel did not mean what they said, then they would have sinned, but they meant what they said, and God blessed them for it. Verse 3 says, “And the LORD listened to the voice of Israel and delivered up the Canaanites, and they utterly destroyed them and their cities. So the name of that place was called Hormah” (v. 3). Then Israel could take back their brethren whom Arad had captured.
You can make a vow to God. Be sure to keep it at all costs. If you do, God shall be with you.
