The Family Grew

To read the Bible in a year, read Numbers 1 and 2.
Less than one hundred family members of Jacob went down to Egypt. We know they grew in numbers down there, but we did not have an idea of the numbers until we came to the Book of Numbers. After more than a year had passed from the time they left (Numbers 1:1), God told Moses to take a census of Israel (v. 2), but not of every person. He said, “from twenty years old and above–all who are able to go to war in Israel. You and Aaron shall number them by their armies” (v. 3). The total number therefore, would not include women, males under the age of twenty, men too old to fight in war, and the tribe of Levi (v. 49).
With those numbers not included, the total was 603,550! You can speculate on the actual size of Israel with the others included. The family of Jacob had grown immensely!
In the beginning of the church, the family of Jesus numbered about one hundred twenty (Acts 1.15). How much has His family grown since then?
