The Beginning of the Gospel

To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 1:1-22.
Mark began his account of the ministry of Jesus Christ, saying, “The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God” (Mark 1:1). The gospel, or the good news, that the Son of God had finally arrived in the world, began with telling of the arrival of the forerunner of the Christ. Mark quoted the prophet who spoke of the one who would come and prepare the way for the Lord (vv. 2, 3). That one was John the Baptizer and he prepared the way of the Lord in this manner, “John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins” (v. 4). John prepared the way of the Lord by making the way holy, preaching to the people that they should repent and be baptized for the remissions of sins.
Many today still prepare the way of the Lord to enter into the hearts of the people. He cannot enter the heart until repentance and remission of sins (forgiveness of sins) happens. Have you repented of your sins? Have you been baptized for the forgiveness of your sins?
