Do As the Lord Says

To read the Bible in a year, read Leviticus 10-12.
As the Lord explained the work of the priests, suddenly this happened in the narrative, “Then Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it, put incense on it, and offered profane fire before the LORD, which He had not commanded them. So fire went out from the LORD and devoured them, and they died before the LORD” (Leviticus 10:1, 2). Where did that come from? Well, it came from the fact that in the Book of Leviticus, the Lord explained just what He wanted. However, these two sons of Aaron, offered profane fire, because they did something that the Lord had not commanded. The things that priests did were exceedingly important, not to be substituted at a whim. This was the Lord’s religion for the benefit of man who deserved death for his sin. Therefore, man, who continued in life by the mercy of God, needed to do things as the Lord wanted them done. It is that simple. Yes, God shows us grace and mercy, but He also wants us to care enough to listen to Him and to follow Him. Do you think you can do that for Him?
