Consecrating the High Priest

To read the Bible in a year, read Exodus 29 and 30.
Much of Exodus 29 explained the consecration of Aaron as the first high priest and of his sons who would follow him. God did not leave to the imagination of Moses, such a vital task of preparing the high priests for the all important work of that position. The Lord began and said, “And this is what you shall do to them to hallow them for ministering to Me as priests: Take one young bull and two rams without blemish” [and on the Lord listed] (Exodus 29:1). In verse 9, the Lord said, “And you shall gird them with sashes, Aaron and his sons, and put the hats on them. The priesthood shall be theirs for a perpetual statute. So you shall consecrate Aaron and his sons” (v. 9). They had to follow the consecration process carefully, because only the high priest would enter the Holy of Holies and only once a year. He had to do his job right.
After reading the details of the consecration process, you will be glad to know that Jesus Christ took care of all things needed for Him to be our High Priest forever. Enjoy your Christianity as Jesus works for you in heaven as your High Priest.
