Have Mercy On Me!

To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 15:21-39.
Jesus entered Tyre and Sidon (Matthew 15.21). While there, a woman of Canaan approached Him, crying out, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed” (v. 22). Rather than asking for mercy on her daughter, she asked for mercy on herself. Why was that? Perhaps she believed her daughter suffered for the mother’s sin. Or may be the demon in the daughter caused her to attack her mother. Whatever it was, the mother’s life was so bound up in her daughter that what happened to her daughter happened to the mother.
Every parent who loves his or her children, knows how the mother in the story felt. What the child suffers in the body, the parents suffer in the spirit. Now, we can get an idea of the suffering of God the Father when He saw the suffering of His blessed Son Jesus Christ!
