Idols, Prophets, and Unclean Spirits

To read the Bible in a year, read Zechariah 13 and 14.
Zechariah revealed that the Lord would open a fountain to wash away sin and uncleanness, referring to the fountain of blood from the crucified Son of God (Zechariah 13:1). Something would happen during those days, “‘It shall be in that day,’ says the LORD of hosts, ‘that I will cut off the names of the idols from the land, and they shall no longer be remembered. I will also cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to depart from the land” (Zechariah 13:2). During the time surrounding the death of Jesus Christ, the Jews no longer worshiped idols. Also, unclean spirits and prophets were prevalent, but that phenomenon ended also. Verse 3 even states that once the time of the prophets ended, anyone claiming to prophesy would be considered a false prophet.
With the work and death of Jesus Christ and the sending out of His apostles, God ceased the work of speaking directly to people. Now, He speaks to us in the written Scriptures. Meditate in the Scriptures daily that God, through His word, might speak to you.
