How Long Before God Hears Our Prayers?

To read the Bible in a year, read Habakkuk.
You pray and pray, but nothing seems to happen. Habakkuk would know just what you think. The Lord gave the prophet a burden (Habakkuk 1:1), revealed in the Book named after him. His message began with a troubled heart,
O LORD, how long shall I cry, And You will not hear? Even cry out to You, “Violence!” And You will not save. (v. 2)
You may not cry out about violence in your neighborhood, but you and the prophet still understand each other. The prophet knew that God hated violence. Therefore, Habakkuk cried out without ceasing to God of the problem, but the violence continued (v. 3, 4). Eventually, God answered the prayer, but the prophet did not like the answer.
Keep praying to God and be prepared for Him to answer it according to His wisdom and righteousness. The prophet came to accept God’s answer and you will too, if you keep in mind that He is God and knows what He does.
