Harlotry Against the Lord

To read the Bible in a year, read Hosea 1-4.
Hosea preached during the reign of several kings of Judah and Israel (Hosea 1:1). Sadly, Israel committed harlotry in the spirit during those days, which is why God sent the prophet to them, to turn them from their way. God loved Israel and He wanted the nation to know that. Israel became a harlot, but God’s loved for her nonetheless, as He demonstrated through the marriage of Hosea. The Lord spoke to the prophet,
“Go, take yourself a wife of harlotry And children of harlotry, For the land has committed great harlotry By departing from the LORD.” (Hosea 1:2)
The prophet did as commanded, taking Gomer as a wife, and she conceived a son (v. 3). They had another child, but in spite of what they had together, she left him and chased after many lovers.
People do that to God all the time. We each have so much with God, yet, many people still leave Him. However, that does not turn away His love, but He continues to pursue a relationship with every single one of us, going so far as sending His Son to die for us. Bless the great God of heaven!
