The Hope of Being Like Jesus

Read the Bible in a year by reading First John 3 today.
We were children of the devil. Therefore, God has shown great love toward us by bringing us into His family. John said, “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!” (1John 3:1a). John spoke words of truth and soberness. Then he added that if we are children of God, we have this awesome hope, “Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is” (1John 3:2). The glorious state Jesus now has, we shall also have. Wow! That hope tops all hopes. Yet, John said further, “And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure” (1John 3:3).
To share in the glorious state of Jesus, which shall not be revealed until He returns, John taught that we have to purify ourselves even as Jesus is pure. If we want His glory, we have to have His purity first.
We have to purify ourselves daily. Keep in mind the hope John revealed and you shall have the highest motivation for working on that purity.
