Watch Out, You Rich!

Read the Bible in a year by reading James 5 today.
The Holy Spirit warned the rich, saying, “Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you!” (James 5:1). Their riches in the end would fight against them (v. 2, 3), because they had gained their wealth through fraud and the Lord knew it and He would do something about it (v. 4).
Therefore, James wrote to them, revealing these things that they might repent before it was everlastingly too late. He warned that if they continued to gain riches by unrighteous means, they were only fattening themselves up for the day of slaughter (v. 5).
Finally, James declared, “You have condemned, you have murdered the just; he does not resist you” (v. 6). Amazing. They condemned and murdered the just, yet, the just did not resist them. They condemned and murdered Jesus, but He did not resist them. They condemned and murdered the just people of Jesus Christ, but they did not resist their persecutors.
Do you have money and luxury? How did you get it? If you hurt other people to get it, repent immediately, give it back those from whom you took it, or if that is not possible, start giving to others that God might spare you in the Day of Judgment.
