Someone Greater Than Abraham

Read the Bible in a year by reading Hebrews 7 today.
The Bible shows Abraham as one great man! Amazingly, he was not the greatest man living on the earth during those days! Listen carefully to what the Hebrew writer said about something that happened between Abraham and this other man, “For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all, first being translated ‘king of righteousness,’ and then also king of Salem, meaning ‘king of peace,’ without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, remains a priest continually” (Hebrews 7:1-3). Did Melchizedek gave a tenth to Abraham or did Abraham give a tenth to Melchizedek? It was the latter. The writer went on to argue that Melchizedek was greater than Abraham!
Why then did God not chose Melchizedek to make the promises known? God knows all things and does things perfectly. Can we accept that? We think that we see a better way for God to do things, but let me tell you something, He has been from eternity and He created the world and has been running it since long before you and I got here. I think He knows what He is doing!
