Will God Always Approve of Our Plans?

Read the Bible in a year by reading Jeremiah 40-42 today.
Some men went to Jeremiah and asked for the word of God, concerning what they should do after the Babylonians had attacked Judah and Jerusalem. They assured Jeremiah that they would do whatever God said, whether it was pleasing or displeasing to them. However, they lied. They had already made up their minds on what they wanted to do and they expected God to bless their plans. God spoke to Jeremiah, revealing their evil intent. Jeremiah said to them, “For you were hypocrites in your hearts when you sent me to the LORD your God, saying, ‘Pray for us to the LORD our God, and according to all that the LORD your God says, so declare to us and we will do it'” (Jeremiah 42:20).
God is not our servant. Therefore, we should always consult Him before we cement our plans. We have to be flexible, ready to do what He wants. Often He does bless what we want to do, but not always. Let us never forget who He is and who we are.
