Why Does God Deliver Us?

Read the Bible in a year by reading Jeremiah 7 and 8 today. God told the nation of Judah that He knew they were stealing, murdering, committing adultery, swearing falsely, burning incense to Ball, and walking after other gods (Jeremiah 7:9)
“and then come and stand before Me in this house which is called by My name, and say,
‘We are delivered to do all these abominations’?” (Jeremiah 7:10).
They actually believed that God delivered them from their troubles so they could commit those sins. No, He does not save us so we may sin, but He saves us from our sin. He does not deliver us that we might have freedom to do evil things, but that we might be free from doing evil things. What have you been thinking along these lines? Do you think God either does not see your sin or that He looks the other way?
