One More Man Could Have Saved Jerusalem

Read the Bible in a year by reading Jeremiah 5 and 6 today.
Remember God told Abraham that if ten righteous people could have been found in Sodom, God would have saved the city. God found four, no more, and so He destroyed the wicked city.
Similarly, He told Jeremiah,
“Run to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem;
See now and know;
And seek in her open places
If you can find a man,
If there is anyone who executes judgment,
Who seeks the truth,
And I will pardon her. (Jeremiah 5:1)
There were some righteous people in Jerusalem. Jeremiah was one. There was King Josiah. There was Ezekiel. There were others. Yet, just one more God wanted to see and He promised to forgive Jerusalem. That one extra man could not be found. Therefore, God sent the mighty Babylonians against His beloved city.
In God’s eyes, one righteous person makes a huge difference. So then, do not abandon your righteousness, but thrive in it, for you might be the one-grain of salt that preserves your congregation or your town or nation. You might be the one beam of light that God wants to see in the darkness of the place where you live or work.
Do not give up.
