What Makes a Preacher Live

Read the Bible in a year by reading First Thessalonians 3 today.
The townspeople of Thessalonica drove Paul and his friends from town. The church there was still new and so Paul feared whether they had remained faithful while he was gone. He sent Timothy back to find out their spiritual state and he brought back good news. To that, Paul said, “For now we live, if you stand fast in the Lord” (1Thessalonians 3:8). If they had fallen away, it would have taken the life out of the preachers, but remaining strong in the Lord brought life to their souls. If you have loved someone in the church dearly and perhaps worked much to bring their salvation and then they fell away, it took something out of you. When someone grew in the Lord after your work with that person, it put something in you. It was some life that was taken away or added. We know that heaven and hell is at stake and that is why such feelings fill our hearts over the loss or salvation of someone we love. People love you. Love them in return. Love others also.
