Read the Bible in a year by reading Ephesians 4 today. Just before Paul said to keep the unity of the Spirit, the apostle showed the attitudes necessary to strive for that unity. He explained that we should strive, “with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love” (Epesians 4:2). Do you want to be united with arrogant, harsh, impatient, and hateful people? I did not think that you did. Well, people do not want to be united with you either if you have those contrary attitudes. Do you want to work with people who have all lowliness, gentleness, longsuffering, and love? Of course, you do! Other people are the same way toward you. Therefore, strive to have all those attitudes. Watch yourself today. Do you have the traits Paul commanded us to have? Are you the opposite? Or do you have a mixture of the good and the bad? Pull up the bad like nasty weeds and plant the good like beautiful flowers.
