The Lord and the Earth

Read the Bible in a year by reading Isaiah 24-26 today. Isaiah used what the Lord did to the earth and its inhabitants to show what He would do again.
The prophet wrote,
Behold, the LORD makes the earth empty and makes it waste,
Distorts its surface
And scatters abroad its inhabitants. (Isaiah 24:1)
Isaiah used historical events as symbols to show what the Lord was going to do again. In the past,
1. He used a flood to make the earth waste, by killing the people.
2. Afterwards, He distorted the earth’s surface (Psalms 104:5-9) to prevent another global flood.
3. He scattered the people later at the tower of Babel.
The earth and her people are great, but not great enough to be immune from the Lord’s justice. Never forget the capabilities of the Lord for both punishment and reward.
