“Then the squad of soldiers with their commanding officer and the officers of the Jewish leaders arrested Jesus and tied him up” (John 18:12 NET).
They tied up the one who was the Agent of creation, spoken into existence with but a word?
They tied up he who with a word cured the sick and freed those possessed by demons?
They tied up the Son of Man who, on saying, “I am he,” made grown men retreat and fall to the ground?
They tied up the hands that, with a mere touch, restored Malchus’s lopped-off ear?
They tied up the commander of a dozen legion of angels, ready to descend at his call and come to his aid?
What a ridiculous scene, this band of mortal, fearful men who carried Jesus away with his hands tied!
Jesus went to the judgment and to the cross because he chose to.
They tied up Jesus before they led him out of the garden.
